Très chers lecteurs, quelle saison !Au rythme des bals et des réceptions, je vous ai narré le feuilleton haletant de la folle romance entre Mlle Daphné Bridgerton et Simon, le ténébreux duc de Hastings. Valses langoureuses, rebondissements cocasses et bagarres mémorables nous auront tenus en haleine jusqu'à l'épilogue d'un romantisme échevelé.Aurons-nous le temps de reprendre notre souffle ? Il est à craindre que non, car il se chuchote déjà dans Londres qu'Anthony, le frère de Daphné, serait décidé à convoler lui aussi. Chère lectrice, cher lecteur,Vous vous demandez sans doute pourquoi la haute société londonienne s'inflige tous les ans la soirée musicale des Smythe-Smith. Bien sûr, les Featherington, les Bridgerton, Colin et Gregory en particulier, et lady Danbury sont installés aux premiers rangs. La saison mondaine commence à peine que les mères ambitieuses et leurs filles sont déjà sur le pied de guerre. Qui attrapera dans ses filets l'un des rejetons de la famille Bridgerton, grande pourvoyeuse de beaux partis ? Une course d'obstacles s'annonce, d'autant que les ragots vont bon train.Ainsi, le fringant Benedict a beau clamer qu'il ne souhaite pas se marier, le bruit court qu'il a croisé le regard d'une éblouissante inconnue lors d'un bal masqué. Et alors, me direz-vous ? Et alors, la belle a disparu à minuit ! Ce qui ne la rend que plus désirable aux yeux du jeune Bridgerton...Et qu'en est-il du charmant Colin, enfin de retour de ses pérégrinations sur le Continent ? Les jeunes gens ne se bousculent pas pour demander la main de Hyacinthe, la cadette des Bridgerton, trop fine mouche, trop sincère. Certes, mieux vaut être seule que mal accompagnée, il n'empêche qu'elle commence à se demander si elle ne va pas finir vieille fille. Et ce n'est pas la rencontre avec Gareth Saint-Clair, aristocrate à la réputation sulfureuse, qui risque d'y changer quoi que ce soit. Encore que... La découverte d'un journal intime en italien qu'elle se propose de lui traduire pourrait bien jouer un rôle inattendu.Contrairement à la plupart de ses congénères, Gregory, le benjamin des Bridgerton, ne vit que dans l'attente du «grand amour». Il croit l'avoir trouvé en la personne de lady Hermione Watson, éblouissante beauté dont, hélas, le coeur est déjà pris. Qu'à cela ne tienne, Gregory va accepter l'aide de Lucinda Abertnathy, la meilleure amie de l'angélique Hermione, pour parvenir à ses fins.
