Samantha Shannon est une autrice à succès figurant sur les listes best-sellers du New York Times et du Sunday Times. Elle est née dans l'ouest de Londres en 1991 et a commencé à écrire de manière conséquente à l'âge de 12 ans. Elle a étudié la langue et la littérature anglaises au St Anne's College d'Oxford de 2010 à 2013, se spécialisant dans la poésie d'Emily Dickinson et les principes de la critique cinématographique.
À l'âge de 21 ans, elle publie Saison d'os, le premier opus de la saga The Bone Season, une série de sept romans fantastiques, qui connait un succès international.
